Constitution article 1 section 6. Power of legislature to dispense with primary elections in certain cases. All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a congress of the united states which shall consist of a senate and house of representatives. Correspondingly article i section 6 of the texas constitution states that no preference shall ever be given by law to any religious society.
This constitution and the laws of the united states which shall be made in pursuance thereof. To prevent prosecutors and others from using the courts to intimidate a legislator because they do not like his or her views legislators are granted immunity from criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits for the things they say and the work they do as legislators. And for any speech or debate in either house they shall not be questioned in any other place.
And the judges in every state shall be bound thereby any thing in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding. Rights privileges and franchise secured. They shall in all cases except treason felony and breach of the peace be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective houses and in going to and returning from the same.

Section 6 the senators and representatives shall receive a compensation for their services to be ascertained by law and paid out of the treasury of the united states. And all treaties made or which shall be made under the authority of the united states shall be the supreme law of the land.
